From an early age, I have been immersed in the legal industry, gaining a profound understanding of its intricacies and challenges. This lifelong exposure has shaped my career and fueled my passion for transforming law firms.

 

From Law School to Analytics Enthusiast
My journey into the legal world began long before law school, as I helped with my family’s business in any way I could—whether filing, copying, or running documents to court. After my college years as a baseball student-athlete, I earned my law degree and embarked on an unconventional path, starting in a marketing role at a boutique law firm. It was there that I discovered my passion for analytics and realized the transformative power of data in driving business strategies. This newfound love for numbers and strategy propelled me to become the Firm Administrator at a mid-sized firm with over 20 attorneys and international offices. Though young and relatively inexperienced, I was determined to challenge the status quo and improve their business model, despite initial resistance.

 

Building a New Firm from the Ground Up
Later, I stepped into the role of Chief Operating Officer at a newly established independent family law firm, where I could fully apply the skills and insights I had gained over the years. I crafted a comprehensive business plan that quickly demonstrated success. However, the initial years were incredibly challenging. While I had a solid understanding of law firm operations, including finance, human resources, marketing, and strategy, I recognized that there was still another level of excellence to achieve.

 

Mastering the Art of Financial Management
The real turning point came during the pandemic. This challenging period forced our new firm to innovate and refine our financial processes and understanding. It was then, I created the NorthStar—a comprehensive tool for tracking and analyzing vital business metrics. This tool allowed us to monitor our holistic health in real-time, forecast future trends, and make data-driven decisions. The NorthStar tracks our modified Profit & Loss statements, marketing data, revenue, inventory, credit adjustments, and cash flow. This holistic approach to law firm management transformed our firm, enabling us to pivot quickly and efficiently in response to changing circumstances and ultimately making us much more profitable.
