In collaboration with Catherine Altman MacDonaugh and Tiffany McLean, I co-hosted a roundtable focused on one of the most pressing issues in the legal industry today: Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy. During this session, we explored whether law firms currently have AI policies in place, the importance of implementing one, and what those policies should encompass. We offered guidance on the essential components of a comprehensive AI policy, addressing both the legal and ethical considerations that firms need to account for in this rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Our discussion extended into the critical aspects of risk management, including the potential liabilities that AI introduces and the insurance coverage law firms should consider as a safeguard. From choosing the right AI technologies—whether for legal research, case management, or administrative functions—to enforcing policies that mitigate risk, we provided a well-rounded exploration of AI’s impact from both a legal and operational standpoint. Finally, we shared practical strategies for firms looking to implement and enforce these policies effectively, ensuring that they are prepared to navigate the opportunities and challenges that come with AI adoption.
